Invitation to Submit Ballot Arguments

Deadline May 6, 2020.
Superior– Town Clerk Ruby Cervantes announced the proposition number for ballot measure appearing on the August 4, 2020 Primary Election and invites interested parties to submit arguments to be included in the Publicity Pamphlet that will be distributed prior to the August 4, 2020 Primary Election.

The proposition that will appear on the August 4, 2020 ballot is listed below.

REFERRED TO THE PEOPLE BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF SUPERIOR
OFFICIAL TITLE: A RESOLUTION PROPOSING AN EXTENSION OF THE ALTERNATIVE LOCAL EXPENDITURE LIMITATION FOR THE TOWN OF SUPERIOR.
DESCRIPTIVE TITLE: Pursuant to the Arizona State Constitution, this proposal extends the alternative expenditure limitation for the Town of Superior for the next four years. Annually, the Town Council will determine the amount of the alternative expenditure limitation for the fiscal year after at least one public hearing. This alternative expenditure limitation replaces the state-imposed expenditure limitation.

A “YES” vote shall have the effect of extending an alternative expenditure limitation for the Town of Superior.

A “NO” vote shall have the effect of not allowing the Town of Superior to continue an alternative expenditure limitation and to require expenditures of the Town to be limited by the state-imposed expenditure limit.

Arguments for or against ballot measures may be filed with the Town Clerk no later than 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Arguments may be submitted to the Town Clerk, P.O. Box 218, 199 N. Lobb Ave, Superior, Arizona 85173. A $200 fee must accompany each argument submitted and each argument must not exceed 300 words. Arguments must be signed by the submitting person. Arguments submitted by organizations shall be signed on behalf of the organization by one of the executive officers of the organization authorized to take the action, or if a political committee, by the Chairperson or Treasurer. No person or organization shall submit more than one argument for each ballot measure to be voted on.
