RE: EXECUTIVE ORDER – CANCELLATION OF PUBLIC EVENTS & TOWN PROTOCOLS REGARDING COVID-19 VIRUS

Town of Superior, Mayor, Mila Besich has issued an executive order postponing or canceling all public events due to the Covid-19 (Corona Virus) until further notice. At this time there is not an identified case of Covid-19 in Superior, however, the Town is taking proactive steps to protect residents, police and fire personnel.

The order will affect all public gatherings with an attendance of 100 or more people in a public setting on Town Property and includes the upcoming Apache Leap Mining Festival, the upcoming State of the Town Address in April and other events where Town permits have been issued for public gatherings. The Town of Superior will evaluate the need for the cancellation of events through the end of March to see if the ban can be lifted. For those involved with the Apache Leap Mining Festival, they should direct their questions on Carnival wristbands and vendor fees to the Chamber of Commerce. This Executive Order does not affect private businesses and all businesses are encouraged to remain open.

In addition, the Superior Senior Center will be closed and all meals will be delivered to the homes of residents who receive their meals from the Superior Senior Center. The home-delivered meals will begin on Tuesday, March 17, the center will be open on Monday, March 16 to allow for Seniors to opt into the program.

“I make this order with an abundance of caution and concern for the residents of Superior, this virus is something we all must take seriously” This decision comes after a full evaluation of how the protocols around protections for our public safety officers must be handled.
